Breast Lift

Breast lift surgery is intended to correct breast sagging, a common cosmetic problem that can occur because of aging, pregnancy or genetic reasons. In some cases, this procedure is combined with breast augmentation to restore breast fullness as well.

How to know if a breast lift is right for you

If you are unhappy about the position of your breasts, this surgery might be an appropriate solution. Often after pregnancy or significant weight loss, the breasts lose their youthful appearance and begin to sag as the skin stretches. Ideal candidates for this procedure will have breasts that are not extraordinarily large. For most women, it is recommended that you wait until no further pregnancies are planned before having breast lift surgery.

How breast lift surgery is performed

This procedure may use a variety of techniques, but in most cases, three incisions are necessary:

  • one incision travels around the areola
  • another travels vertically from the bottom of the areola to the breast crease
  • the third incision travels horizontally within the breast crease.

Excess skin and glandular tissue is removed and the breasts are lifted up into a more youthful position. After surgery is complete, the patient may have a slightly reduced breast size, but enhanced position and enhanced breast firmness. A special bra is provided for you to wear during recovery, during which time you may experience some swelling, bruising and discomfort.
