Arm Lift

Arm lift surgery is intended to correct sagging skin and excess tissue on the upper arms. When a person's weight fluctuates, excess skin and tissue can accumulate and hang below the upper arms. The arm lift is intended to correct this problem and restore the arms to a better proportion and shape.

How to know if this procedure is right for you

The ideal candidate for arm lift surgery will meet the following conditions:

  • Carry excess skin on the upper arms and have a strong desire to eradicate this problem.
  • Capable of understanding the risks of surgery
  • Be able to understand that arm lift surgery will create visible scars.
  • Be a non smoker or quit smoking well in advance of surgery (smokers can experience complications related to healing)

For the right candidate, the scars of arm lift surgery will be an acceptable condition in order to realize the benefits of a more attractive arm shape. Ask Dr. Cozzone more about this topic if scars are a major concern for you.

How arm lift surgery is performed

The procedure requires an incision on the back of each arm traveling from elbow toward the armpit, which will vary in size depending on the conditions of each patient. Your plastic surgeon will remove a certain amount of skin and tissue from each arm in order to achieve the intended result. Sutures will be placed to close the incisions and maintain the new form. After surgery you'll be instructed to keep your arms elevated in order to reduce swelling and expedite the recovery process.
